Episode 1 Levels of Life
How is life organized?
The biological hierarchy is a series of levels that can be used to "zoom out" and see how living things are organized from individual organism to the whole world.
Organism: A living thing
Population: A group of the same living things in an area.
Community: Different living things in an area.
Ecosystem: Interdependent living & non-living things in an area.
Biome: A large scale, regional habitat of common ecosystems.
Biosphere: All the places where life exists.

Episode 2 Food Webs
Who eats who?
Food web models show the cycling of matter and the flow of energy through an ecosystem as organisms eat and get eaten.
Producers use energy from the sun to maker their own food.
Primary consumers (herbivores) eat only producers.
Secondary consumers eat primary consumers.
Tertiary & quaternary consumers are at the top of the food chain (carnivores).
Episode 3 Energy Pyramids
Where does the energy go?
Energy Pyramids are a model that shows how MUCH energy is transferred when organisms eat each other. Only about 10% of the energy is passed between each "trophic level."
Episode 4 Trees
Trees are nice
Read about the benefits of trees. Friends of GR Parks is into planting trees.
